QUESTION
LAND GIVEN/SOLD TO MR. BUDDY SHIVRAJ
Could the Honourable Minister of Agriculture tell this National Assembly-
- How much land was taken out of the Diamond Sugar Estate Cultivation at Providence, East Bank Demerara and given/sold to Mr. Buddy Shivraj to construct an international hotel?
- If the land was given to Mr. Shivraj, could the Honourable Minister tell this Honourable House what is the market value of this land?
- If the land was sold to Mr. Buddy Shivraj, could the Honourable Minister tell this Honourabe House what was the sale price?
- Could the Honourable Minister tell this Honourable House how much additional land is to be given or sold to Mr. Buddy Shivraj for a golf course?
ANSWER
- No land was taken out of cultivation
- The land was leased to Buddy’s on, not sold, and so no valuation was required to be done.
- Land was not sold to Mr. Shivraj but leased by the Government of Guyana to him for a period of 99 years at a rental of two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000.00) per acre per annum.
- I am not aware of any public lands given to or sold to Mr. Shivraj for a golf course.
